  • I'm traveling out of the country soon. Can I still get tattooed/pierced?
The short answer is no. The reason why is because of the risks involved with you having a fresh, open wound and traveling to a foreign country. You're opening yourself up to not only the higher possibility of infection, but also complications with healing that can easily be prevented if you wait until after you return from your trip.

  • Is my piercing ready to be downsized?
With a clean, dry finger, push on the back of your post. If the jewelry stays out without slowly sliding back in, then yes! You're ready for a downsize! If it slowly slides back in, then you need to wait a bit longer. Downsizing is an important part of the healing process so your jewelry doesn't catch on your hair or clothing, or rock back and forth within the placement and cause irritation and migration.
  • I'm having issues with my piercing healing properly. What should I do?
Please send a few photos to Natalie through Facebook or Instagram @PositivelyPiercing with a description of the issue(s). Or you can set up a piercing check up appointment online. If you see red lines coming from the piercing or if your jewelry has become severely embedded, please go to your nearest emergency room immediately.
  • How old should my child be for ear piercings?
While Virtue Studios does not pierce minors under the age of 16, it's our position that minors under 16 should not get their ears pierced until they can: 1) Verbally ask for and consent to the piercings AND 2) Properly care for and protect the piercings Young children and infants are susceptible to touching and playing with the piercing with dirty hands which can lead to difficulties with healing, including infection. It may also be difficult or impossible for young children and infants to verbalize any issues with healing before it's too late and medical attention is required. Also, young children will not be able to participate in certain leisure activities and hygiene practices such as swimming or bathing in bathtubs; as piercings cannot be submerged until fully healed.
